This is an optional module only open to students taking the Higher Diploma in English.

This module offers students an introduction to key concepts in English Literature and culture. This course will focus on key concepts and ideas in the history of poetry and drama. The module will introduce students to methods of reading, analysing, and contextualising poetry and drama and will enable students to become familiar with the textual and formal elements that need to be considered when approaching poetic and dramatic texts. The module will enhance the student’s understanding of poetry and drama and provide students with the knowledge, experience and writing skills to develop and express well-informed opinions about what they are reading.
