	The Aims of this module are as follows: To give students the experience of a large scale design problem, with all the associated administrative, communication and managerial aspects. Project Description: Each student will be allocated a unique individual project. The project will be composed of a combination of some of the following technical areas: Analogue Electronics and signal processing. Digital Signal Processing. Control Systems. Embedded Software Design. Students will be asked to identify preferred projects from a list of project proposals. Where there is competition for the same project, allocation will be decided based on the 3rd year Engineering subject grade ranking,

students are not required to pass any element independently Pass is 40%, students are not required to pass components separately, an overall pass mark of 40% is acceptable.
Penalties: Late submission of reports will be subject to a penalty of 10% of the assessment grade for each day (or part thereof) overdue.

	Assessment Philosophy The number and scheduling of the assessment procedures are designed to indirectly evaluate the following learning outcome: Demonstrate appropriate management techniques in the execution of their project. Direct assessment of this also occurs in the interim report through the requirement for a project completion plan and Gantt chart. The different modes of assessment employed (reports and Interviews) evaluate a range of communication skills, the technical engineering knowledge, technical expertise from multiple technical areas and theoretical knowledge are all evaluated in the final report, supervisor's assessment and interview.
