	Overview
	The different modes of assessment employed (reports, presentation and interviews) evaluate learning outcomes 5 � 7. Learning outcomes 1 � 4 are primarily evaluated in the final report and interview. The number and scheduling of the assessment procedures are designed to indirectly evaluate learning outcome 7. The aims of this module are: � To promote project based learning in the field of embedded and intelligent devices. � To instill the creative spirit in students. � To develop oral and written communication skills. � To develop students experience of working in a group. � To engender an awareness of ethical issues in engineering.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Apply problem-based learning to solve unforeseen problems in the areas of embedded and intelligent devices. Apply structured design to a range of problems in the domain of signals and control. Apply theoretical knowledge in solving problems encountered. Discuss any ethical issues, environmental impacts and health and safety issues associated with their project. Prepare and deliver an oral presentation. Defend their work through interview. Demonstrate appropriate project management techniques (including time management and project planning).

Assessment

	Autumn Supplementals/Resits
	Are supplemental/resit registrations permitted? Yes This module is 100% continually assessed. Hence, there is no resit Autumn examination, as there is no facility available for repeating the continuous assessment elements of the module. However, students who obtain between 30 � 39% are eligible for supplemental assessment over the summer period. In such instances, the final module grade will be capped at 40%.
