• Define the scope of an intelligent and connected machine
• Identify the key impacts of such machines on society – for example privacy, employment, health, safety
• Recommend means for minimizing some of these social impacts
• Write a succinct argument on the ethical and social issues arising from technology developments

• Module Graded (numeric value) or Ungraded (Pass/Not Passed): Graded
• Continuous Assessment detail(s): All assignments may be subject to interview to further assess knowledge of the content. Where there are group projects, the interview will assess each individual contribution and provide an individual result to each participant.

• Pass standard: 40%
• Could the result of this module be capped? No

• Are supplemental/resit registrations permitted? Yes
• The continuous assessment mark is carried forward as there is no facility for repeating the continuous assessment elements of the course.
• University scheduled written examination (Autumn): 120 minutes
