Module code: EDM603
Credits: 5
Semester: Year-Long
Department: EDUCATION
International: No
Coordinator: Angela Rickard (EDUCATION)
Overview Overview

The Teaching Lab is a weekly micro-teaching assignment for students. It is called a ‘Lab’ to conjure up the idea of an experimental space for student teachers to try out ideas. Working in small teams the Teaching lab process takes students through the planning, delivery and critique of lessons in two cycles while other group members participate in the dual roles of ‘pupils’ and observers. Success in the Teaching Lab is based on the quality of students’ critical reflection on the process as demonstrated through a team-based oral presentation. Students build on detailed formative feedback from Cycle 1 to repeat the process in Cycle 2 with a summative assessment.
