Perspective on career guidance and counselling: origins, traditions and historical evolution; a study of the main Vocational Theorists; Career-decision-making and practice; appropriate and ethical use of test; Recent and future trends in career developments. Skills for career counselling interventions with students at any stage of their school career; a conceptual understanding of ICT and its basic applications; resources for guidance including Qualifax, Gairm, Careers Portal etc.
Definitions and purposes of tests; The history of psychological testing; Concepts such as intelligence, aptitude, interest; Evaluative and ethical issues surrounding selection, administration, interpretation of tests, feedback of test results and report writing.
