Module RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Module code: EDF626
Credits: 2.5
Semester: Year-Long
Department: FROEBEL EDUCATION
International: No
Coordinator: Dr Gearard Ó Floinn (FROEBEL EDUCATION)
Overview Overview

The module is divided into two parts. The first will include, from a postgraduate perspective, preparation for short-term planning (the construction of lesson plans) and long-term planning (the production of schemes), from a Froebelian perspective, for the teaching of religious education on School Placement (Fourth Class to Sixth Class). It will develop students’ prior familiarity with the four principal programmes of religious education currently in use in Irish Primary Schools. The second part will consist of an introduction to the question of religion and the human search for meaning; and an exploration of the relationship between religion and science from the frame of reference of a variety of different cultures.
