Coordinator: Dr Gearard Floinn (FROEBEL EDUCATION)
Overview Overview

The module is divided into two parts. The first will provide, in a postgraduate context and from a Froebelian perspective, preparation for short-term planning (the construction of lesson plans) and long-term planning (the production of schemes) for the teaching of religious education on School Placement (Junior Infants to Second Class). It will introduce students to the four principal programmes of religious education currently in use in Primary Schools in Ireland. The second part will consist of an overview of religious affiliation in twenty-first century Ireland, along with an introduction to the main world religions, including the non-religious worldview, and to the wide variety of branches of Christianity.
