This module will develop the studentsí ability to work creatively with paper and card. A variety of stimuli will be interpreted through shadow drawing, stop
motion, 2D relief and 3D sculpture. The exploration of Froebel Occupations and Gifts will be integral to the process. A key focus of the elective will be the development of studentsí use of materials and how to apply them using new approaches, through historical and cultural lens.
Students will have opportunities to explore and experiment with a wide range of paper, cards including their own hand-made paper, to make a series of artworks in digital, 2D and 3D presentations.
Students will learn digital skills in photography and stop motion.
The course will be delivered in nine two-hour blocks through a variety of teaching methods and approaches.
Students will be expected to read in depth on fine art processes and historical and contemporary artists working in stop motion, film and public art in Ireland and internationally.
