| This module will build upon theoretical understanding and skills developed in previous years in modules such as Sociology of Education, History of Education, Social Construct of Identity, Social, Environmental and Scientific Education, Development and Intercultural Education and various other modules on Reflective Practice.
This module aims to: To strengthen student teachers understanding of the continuum of the Froebel HOPE Teacher Education Partnership To develop and enhance a global outlook within emerging primary teacher identities To prepare student teachers to work in partnership with stakeholders in Kolkata in a variety of HOPE education settings This module will be delivered in 9 two-hour blocks, utilising a variety of teaching methods and approaches, including self-directed learning, school visits and independent tasks.
The following themes and topics will be explored: Motivation and commitment to participate in the partnership The Indian education system and curriculum Introduction to the work of the HOPE Foundation Recap on the ethics of images and messages in a development context Fundraising and effective altruism Cultural context Teaching methodologies and resources Financial management Pedagogical lens: Charity versus social justice mentality Personal Health and Safety and Self-Care Content of the module will be cognizant of changes in practice as they arise from the HOPE Foundation Ireland and HOPE Kolkata. |
