On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:

Develop an individual interest in a particular aspect of education and to pursue this interest academically in a scholarly manner through action- research.

Conduct and write up an action-research project, based on their Fourth Year school placement experience.

Consult a range of critical sources, including teacher-research, professional documents, conference papers, and journals.

Explore various facets of the research process, select appropriate questions/issues, research approaches, sampling strategies, employ the use of secondary data and justify appropriate research methods.

Engage in critical reflection on their own practices as a student-researcher and construct and sustain a well argued discussion., Present a substantial piece of independent research.in written form (paper) and oral form (viva voce) material in a manner appropriate to the topic
