• Be familiar with current research regarding involvement of parents in their Child’s education.
• Explore their own values and beliefs regarding parental involvement
• Be enabled to take active steps to welcome, communicate and engage all parents (as per the National Strategy to Improve Literacy and Numeracy)
• Be enabled to support their school build effective working relationships with parents (as per the National Strategy to Improve Literacy and Numeracy)
• Explore the area of consultation with parents with regards to the School Self Evaluation process
• Be enabled to support their school in developing a parental engagement policy as part of their school’s School Improvement Plan. ( as per the National Strategy to Improve Literacy and Numeracy)
• Gain more knowledge of NPC Primary

• Lectures / Group Work/ Presentations/ Art and Drama.

• Continuous Assessment detail(s): Journal, containing personal understanding and reflections of the sessions = 40%
• Other detail(s): Assignment =60% ( no more than 1500 words), to include: Critical evaluation of parental involvement literature (see reading list) Development of one initiative which could be implemented by a teacher to enhance Parental involvement across one school term.
