This module further develops students’ professional communication skills and leadership management styles in order to function and flourish in the school setting. Peer recording for self-evaluation, negotiation skills and strategies, self-directed and staff-directed language skills and competency will be explored. Students will investigate group dynamics and their relation to schools. Role-play will be utilised for the purposes of working effectively with stakeholders such as parents. From a competency building perspective students will study Gaeilge, English and Maths using goal setting and self-directed study skills. Students will also study the nature, purposes and ethical considerations of educational research. The module will provide a critical introduction to the philosophical and methodological traditions in education research Students will maintain a professional learning portfolio incorporating all aspects of the programme
