On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:

Develop, implement and review cross-curricular planning for teaching mathematics and scientific enquiry and for the integration of other subjects into mathematics and science learning. • Review, select and use appropriate methodologies, including ICT and collaborative learning, resources and materials for the integration of mathematical and scientific enquiry across the curriculum (including use of ICT)

Explore, facilitate and support the use of play in integrating mathematical and scientific learning across the curriculum. • Link and integrate mathematics and science across the curriculum using the project approach.

Facilitate the use of a variety of methods of children recording their mathematics and science learning using a cross-curricular approach • Document and assess children’s cross-curricular work including self and peer evaluation and utilize the information gathered for differentiation purposes

Demonstrate a knowledge of relevant theories, terminology and concepts around language learning and teaching and evaluate the applicability of these systems for informing their own practice • Independently select, use and evaluate a wide range of literary and information texts and resources in English and Irish from a wide range of genres and media in different subject areas and at different class levels

Reflect on how the skills, concepts and attitudes involved in language, literature and communication can support children’s learning and their active and creative experiences across all curriculum areas • Identify, plan and apply appropriate classroom methodologies for the teaching of reading, writing, speaking and listening in English and Irish from the junior classes to sixth class
