Following an introduction to the ideas of Narrative Practice, students will explore the multi-storied and fluid nature of identity through experiential exercises. Strong links to developmental psychology and its application to schools will allow for reflection on the quality of their relationship with children, the idea of school “as secure base” and facilitate skilled interventions to support students with a history of insecurity.
Students will learn how to excavate possible storylines of talent, effort, and commitment in the lives of their pupils and contribute to positive identities. They will learn to complete thePositive Profile.
Students will learn skills for conducting conversations with vulnerable children including children who display aggression, bereaved children, migrant children and other groups where maintaining positive identities can be challenging. A model for a Care Team will also be introduced.
