On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:

• Articulate a vision for religious education.
• Express an understanding of the various stages of the history of religious education in Ireland.
• Identify the various religious education programmes in use in Irish primary schools.
• Describe some of the characteristics of each of these programmes.
• Give a detailed account of the content and structure of one of these programmes (of their choice).
• Engage in long-term and short-term planning for the teaching of religious education on their school experience.
• Compose supplementary and complementary material to the programmes they will teach on School Placement.
