This reading course will explore recent feminist directions in education in relation to contemporary theoretical perspectives. Themes to be covered include embodiment, sexuality/gender, affective relationships, narrative, and the new materialism and how these relate to pedagogical practice, educational knowledge and ethical relations. The schedule for the reading course will be determined in conjunction with students and is seminar-based. Total contact hours will amount to 24 hours across a semester. Students will be able: - to identify key conceptual trends in education that inform feminist perspectives in education - to relate key concepts and theories to a specific educational problems - to appraise critically through presentation and written work the theories under study
