	Legal, policy and other obligations with which schools must be compliant are investigated and explored. The vision and values, school culture, power and authority that contribute to school life are investigated and interrogated. The role of the different stakeholders in the education system and their varying responsibilities are also a key focus.

Legal, policy and other obligations with which schools must be compliant are investigated and explored. The vision and values, school culture, power and authority that contribute to school life are investigated and interrogated. The role of the different stakeholders in the education system and their varying responsibilities are also a key focus.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Explore and understand models of educational leadership � Irish, European and International. Explore and understand the key philosophical and historical underpinnings of the Irish Education context. Identify, trace and analyse key policy developments. Interrogate and critique key educational legislation and its impact on the role of school leader. Demonstrate knowledge of structures in Irish Education (such as governance structures, supports for inclusion, links with outside agencies etc.) Interrogate the concepts of Natural Justice/Fairness of Procedures. Understand and ensure the safe functioning of the school.
