Semester: 2

Overview Overview

By studying this module at postgraduate level, you will have the opportunity to further develop your knowledge of science pedagogy, learning and assessment. You will examine critically the pedagogies employed in science teaching by engaging with key research in science education.
Building on Duschl’s (2008) four dimensions of science: the conceptual dimension, the social dimension, the epistemic dimension and the material dimension you will examine how supporting students’ epistemological understandings of how scientific knowledge is constructed and evaluated can support students’ own construction and evaluation of scientific knowledge.
