Module INTRODUCTION TO RESEARCH METHODS IN EDUCATION (OBLIGATORY)

Module code: ED604
Credits: 10
Semester: Year-Long
Department: EDUCATION
International: No
Overview Overview

This module serves a number of purposes. First, it prepares students to undertake the research components of other modules which culminate in the completion of the Portfolio Dissertation. This is achieved through critical engagement with a range of research methodologies and approaches, which inform the research requirements of the course. Second, students are supported in developing skills of reflective practice with a particular focus on identity, relationships and core values. Third, this module also supports students in the development of verbal communication skills in preparation for the presentation of their findings from the Portfolio Dissertation. The multi-pronged approach is intended to equip students to negotiate dilemmas and new contexts arising in their personal and professional lives. It will also enable students to engage in structured reflective practice connecting SP experiences with educational theories and research assignments throughout the programme.
