On completion of this module the student will be able to:
• understand the dynamic processes by which curriculum is designed and implemented
• apply knowledge of the individual potential of pupils, dispositions towards learning, varying backgrounds, identities, experiences and learning styles to planning for teaching, learning and assessment
• conduct a systematic, holistic assessment of learner needs
• implement a range of methodologies to achieve planned outcomes
• evaluate learner progress towards those outcomes
• conduct and apply relevant research, as appropriate, to his/her teaching context: identifying, critically analysing and critically integrating new pedagogical insights into his/her practice
• critically interrogate the process of curriculum development, design, implementation and evaluation
• critically evaluate curriculum provision in the Irish context.
