Introduction to advanced topics in Labour Supply, Labour Demand, Job Search models, Wage Determination and Unemployment. Both theoretical models and the tools for empirical analysis are considered. Labour supply topics may include the effect of fixed costs of working, household membership and non-linear budget constraints on labour supply. Labour demand topics can include the effect of work-sharing and of the minimum wage on employment. Wage determination topics may include the impact of monopsony power, bargaining, efficiency wage models and compensating wage differentials. The policy implications of the theoretical models presented are considered throughout.
