In this module we familiarize students with modern influential ideas in microeconomic theory. We study the behaviour of agents, firms and society when faced with information problems and examine the value of information, inquire into the effects of lack of common knowledge of rationality. We use rational social learning models to understand herding and information cascades. We also discuss how markets serve the purpose of improving efficiency when agents are faced with uncertainty. |
