On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:

• Explain key concepts relating to macroeconomic phenomena
• Differentiate and explain the importance of the short and the long run time frames in macroeconomic analysis
• Identify the conditions required for macroeconomic equilibrium
• Evaluate the effects of monetary and fiscal policies on key macroeconomic variables
• Explain the principal determinants of long run economic growth
• Discuss some of the key controversies in macroeconomics today.

• Lecture (or lecture videos), accompanying PowerPoint slides, notes, readings and problem sets will be posted on Moodle. All students will be assigned to (i) a tutorial section and (ii) a study group. Members of your study group may not be in your tutorial section. Tutorial sections will meet four times during the semester via Teams or in person. Tutorials are a chance to ask questions concerning the lectures and/or the problem sets. Questions can be submitted before the tutorial or asked during the tutorial. Additional material will not be presented in the tutorials. Problem sets are to be completed jointly by the members of each study group with each group submitting agreed answers jointly.
