This is a course in open economy macroeconomics. The goal of this course is to provide broad frameworks for understanding the behavior of the real world macroeconomy. Using these frameworks we analyze what makes the economy grow, what are the effects of monetary and fiscal policy, what causes unemployment, inflation and business cycles and examine policies to reduce unemployment, stabilize prices, dampen business cycle fluctuations, and improve long-run economic growth and social welfare. |
