On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:

• identify the determinants of supply and demand;
• distinguish between movements along supply/demand and shifts of supply/demand curves;
• determine and explain market equilibrium;
• discuss the effect of government economic policies and their welfare implications;
• distinguish between the accounting and economic costs of economic agents;
• discuss how firm incentives are affected by the market structure in which they operate;
• compare market outcomes across different market structures;
• outline why competition and regulatory policy may be required to affect market outcomes.
