• Identify, compare and contrast the major theoretical perspectives on youth in society
• Critically discuss the relevance of social scientific theories and concepts to their own experience of being young
• Apply relevant theoretical insights to the representation of young people in a range of media
• Describe and assess the key empirical findings from selected youth research in Ireland and elsewhere
• Describe and discuss the main features of youth services and youth policy in Ireland

• The module will be taught through a combination of lectures, group discussion and practical exercises.

• Continuous Assessment detail(s): The module will be assessed by two pieces of continuous assessment, one half way through and one at the end of the semester.
