The course provides students with the fundamental principles underlying Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) from a systems perspective. It will also highlight the key differences between AI and ML. The module will provide an overview of the history and evolution of its methodologies. It will introduce the most important algorithms. Students will learn how to transform data into features and solve real-life problems based on case studies with datasets from challenges. Students will learn to become familiar common data science software platforms and make performance related judgements. The role of AI in search technologies will be described. Future directions in AI and ML will be expounded.
