	Overview
	To introduce students to ways in which theatre can provide a forum to critically engage with models of community development and enhance citizenship and democracy. Using Adult and Community Education pedagogies this module will explore theories and practice of community drama, collaborative learning, embodied learning, and community development. Module Content: • The theory and practice of community engaged theatre • Re/presenting and positioning non-theatre, community spaces for drama (e.g. cars, the street, parks, houses etc) • Theory and practice of collaborative theatre-making • Models and theories of community development: community wellbeing, public spaces, local democracy etc.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Understand the role of theatre in developing community wellbeing Collaborate with others to make a performance Discuss key concepts in the field of community development Describe several types of community-engaged theatre.

Assessment

	Autumn Supplementals/Resits
	Are supplemental/resit registrations permitted? Yes For autumn resit, the major assignment only may be submitted. There will be no re-submission of other continuous assessment components. Marks received during the semester in respect of in-class tests, presentations, minor assignments etc., will be carried over. Essays/projects for autumn resit must be submitted by 1 August and may be subject to a cap.
