The course is designed to introduce students to the work of songwriters Leonard Cohen, Dory Previn, Paul Simon and Mary Chapin Carpenter and to the social issues which are found in their work. The workshops will critique the work in relation to issues of gender; politics; sexuality; family issues and spirituality and explore popular culture, in this instance music, song and poetry, as providing valuable discourses for meaning making and personal transformation inherent in the practice of Adult Education.
