On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:

Student should be familiar with the operation of modern analytical instrumentation including UV spectrometry, spectrofluorimetry, gas chromatography, high performance liquid chromatography, atomic absorption spectrometry, IR and NMR analysis, mass spectrometry, solid phase extraction, ion chromatography, capillary zone electrophoresis, graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry, scanning electron microscopy and computerised data acquisition systems.

Students will also be aware of Laboratory safety and care of equipment., the demands of working within groups, the requirements of record keeping, report writing and oral communications andcombining theory and practical approaches to problem-solving in an analytical laboratory.
