• Search a range of scientific databases, retrieve, analyse and evaluate information for a variety of applications including risk assessment of chemical reactions.
• Communicate by oral and written modes through the use a range of subject specific and generic software packages to including Excel, chemical drawing packages, bibliographic management systems, MS-Word and anti-plagiarism software.
• Deliver an oral presentation to their peer group.
• Write scientifically and to evaluate their work.
• Recognise the structures of the major classes of biomolecules and pharmaceuticals.
• Analyse large data sets by statistical methods.
• Work in teams to solve problems associated with the pursuit of quality and excellence in the Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Industry.
• Construct a curriculum vitae suitable for a professional appointment.

• Labs/practical classes taught as workshops. Online synchronous or asynchronous interactions will replace the laboratory/practical/workshop classes in the case of departmental/class closure.

• Continuous Assessment detail(s): Online replacements of the laboratory/practical classes/ workshops will be provided in the case of departmental/class closure.

• The pass standard is 40%. NOTE: Students should familiarise themselves with the Departmental Rules & Regulations outlined in the 2nd year Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Chemistry Workshop Manual.
