This module aims at introducing students to a range of practice-based engagements with migration in the cultural sector in Ireland. It will explore the relationship between migration dynamics and the creative/cultural industry Students will attend on-campus talks delivered by practitioners in the field in relation to the transnational and transcultural environment of creative/cultural production globally and specifically in Ireland and the central role of public outreach cultural programmes in innovative engagement with the imaginative and meaningful provision of welcome, refuge and sanctuary, thus further indicating the importance of the arts and humanities in informing policy and impacting media representations. They will also be given the opportunity to undertake off-campus observation of specific activities/programmes focused on migrant/refugee outreach at NGOs, community organisations and cultural institutions.
