	Overview
	Module Objectives: To expose the students cutting-edge published or unpublished research results and allow them to extract/filter information and write succinct, abstract style summaries of advanced oral research presentations Module Description: The module is composed of twelve 1-hour advanced research seminars presented by active researchers working in diverse areas of biology, including fungal biology, evolution/bioinformatics, immunology, plant biology and ecology. The majority of speakers will be from external institutions based in Ireland or abroad. Specific module content will change each year depending on the research areas of invited seminar speakers. Two mandatory tutorials will also be organized to provide guidance and feedback on note taking, writing of a summary and common mistakes. NOTE FOR VISITING STUDENTS: Module suitable for students visiting for the full academic year only.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Listen to an advanced biological research seminar and filter important information from presented data. Describe advanced aspects of diverse biological research topics- relating to topics presented as part of the seminar series during the academic year. Write succinct, abstract-style, summaries of advanced oral research presentations. -
