The objective of the module is to enable students to appreciate how the behaviour and physiology of animals (including humans) are adapted to their environments. Topics include: instinct, learning and the development of behaviour; how behaviour evolves; communication; motivation; living in groups; migration, homing and navigation; anti-predator behaviour; biological rhythms; dormancy; temperature relations; osmoregulation and excretion; adaptation to extreme environments.

This module is capped at 68 students.
